[:en]Spring is (nearly) sprung here at La Bourdonnerie, and we’ve just said goodbye to our first guests of the season who were staying for a week in La Fontaine. It’s been a lovely start to the year, following a relatively dry winter, and all of the bloom is on the trees and bushes around the gardens. All of the daffodils are out, and the ducks are getting pretty excitable on the pond, which is always a sign that spring is finally here! If it stays warm, we’ll be firing up the heating on the pool and getting it ready to swim in, in the next week or two.

We’re getting very booked up for the summer period, with practically all of August, and a lot of September already booked. We have a few weeks free still right at the beginning of July, so if you’re looking for a fortnight where you can have a dip in the heated outdoor pool as well as in the sea, drop us a line soon to avoid disappointment!

April is always very popular here too, and we still have availability for most weeks in one gite or another. As is the case every year, we spend the winter making improvements to the property and the grounds. Over the winter we’ve been widening the bridge over the stream to the swimming pool, and we’re about to start on some landscaping work around the pool to make it even prettier. Last autumn we finished levelling the future grass tennis court, and then sewed it with special ‘wimbledon quality’ grass seed mix which has grown great over the winter months. We’ve just taken delivery of the special lawnmower for cutting the grass short enough (from England, ridiculously expensive but worth it!) and hopefully by summer time we will have a playable grass tennis court. Not Wimbledon, but Veslydon (or Vesly Garros!?). If you’re into tennis, bring your racquet!

Le Pressoir has also had a fairly major overhaul, we have replacement sofas in the living room following feedback from guests that the old ones weren’t comfy enough, and we’re also installing a dish washer and a large fridge freezer. La Vacherie is getting new carpets upstairs which we’re finalising next week.

As always, we’re looking forward to seeing guests, old and new, in the coming weeks and months!
